_Logistic Assistant at African Development Solutions (Adeso) in Garissa - Kenya Jobs, Careers and Vacancies_ *LOGISTICS ASSISTANT* Adeso, formerly known as Horn Relief, is an expanding and vibrant African based international development and humanitarian organization. It offers sound employment conditions with opportunities for personal growth and development. *Position Summary* Under the direct supervision of the Logistics and Security Officer, the Logistics Assistant will assist in administrative logistics with overall control and responsibility over the sections of procurement, transportation, warehousing / assets, communication, equipment maintenance, and reporting. The Logistics Assistant will ensure that quality is maintained in logistical issues across Adeso HQ, field offices, and projects. The incumbent will ensure that timely, cost-effective, high quality and appropriate support is offered and that the highest standards are maintained in logistics work. *Position Purpose* * Provide procurement support * Provide transport and travel support * Assist in warehousing/assets management *Specific Roles and Responsibilities* Procurement * Assist in ensuring that procurement tracking is current and updated; * Assist in continuously assessing the market for new procurement opportunities; * Assist in timely delivery of program supplies to field sites in line with project implementation; * Assist in the development, monitoring and review of procurement plans. _Transport and Travel_ * Assist in coordinating vehicles and drivers currently used by the team; * Assist hiring additional vehicles as instructed by LSO; * Ensure that the drivers fill in the log sheets accurately on daily basis; * Arrange for transportation of goods when necessary; * Ensure that vehicles are periodically scheduled for maintened; _Warehousing/Assets_ * Assist in ensuring that all Adeso sets and equipment used in Garissa are properly assessed and documented * Assist in ensuring that items delivered match the local purchase order, invoice and the delivery note. * Assist in ensuring that all documentation is completed and stored in readiness for external and internal audit requirements; * Assist in ensuring periodic stock take is carried out and manage all paperwork related to stored items, including stock cards, delivery and receipt papers. General * Assist in supervising the casual workers hired at the office and the guesthouse; * Deputize for the logistics security officer (LSO) in his absence; * Assist in ensuring that the guesthouse is in order and repairs are undertaken in a timely and quality manner with instructions from the LSO; * Any other duties as may be assigned by the LSO. * Be prepared to work extra hours when required as a level of flexibility. * Act and communicate at all times in a polite manner with respect for others. * Conduct all activities in an honest and trustworthy manner and in Adeso’s best interests *Skills and Qualifications* * Graduate degree/diploma in supply chain management or its equivalent in relevant field; * Post graduate technical training an added advantage; * Minimum 2 years experience in similar role (NGO field or country head office preferred); * Knowledge of USAID/OFDA donor regulations will be an added advantage; * Excellent IT skills, in particular Word, Excel and email is a must; * Technical IT skills, such as networking and problem solving is an advantage; * Excellent people management skills and good communicator; * Highly organized and self-motivated. * Ability to work under high pressure and prioritize tasks; * High standard of written and spoken English with spoken Kiswahili and Somali a must. *Application Process* This is a challenging opportunity for a dedicated and highly motivated professional.
