The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Kenya serves vulnerable populations in the Turkana and Garissa regions as well as in Eastleigh, Nairobi. The IRC implements programs in the areas of comprehensive primary health care, nutrition, protection, peace building, water and sanitation and hygiene (WASH), HIV/AIDS prevention, response to gender based violence, disaster risk reduction (DRR), livelihoods and governance.
The IRC launched women’s protection and empowerment programs in Kenya in the immediate aftermath of the post-election crisis, and has initiated activities that support women and girls in Nairobi, Turkana Country and the Dadaab refugee camps through a variety of activities including health and GBV prevention and response programming. IRC is currently preparing to support the development of peace networks and platforms for women to be effectively involved in decision making and leadership. Applications are invited for the following positions:
CAPACITY BUILDING/MONITORING AND EVALUATION SPECIALIST
Reporting to the Program Director, the Capacity Building/Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will be responsible for working with Kenya NGOs and CBOs on GBV and gender issues, providing on-site capacity building, mentoring, and training as needed and requested by partners
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s Degree or higher in social work (MSW), public health (MPH), humanities, international affairs, other related field preferred.
- Minimum of two-three years of professional experience in implementing and overseeing complex programs in a humanitarian or development context, specifically GBV programming or direct service provision to survivors of violence.
- Experience in conflict, leadership, and peace programming at the local and national level in Kenya
- Exceptional gender, GBV, leadership, and other sector-specific technical skills and knowledge from a Kenya perspective
- Experience working, coordinating, and networking with a variety of actors at different levels in Kenya particularly implementing related project monitoring & evaluation plans
- Knowledge, skills and experience in participatory methods of community development and mobilization with local actors
- Strong background in monitoring and evaluation of project activities
- Experience working with or in US Government-funded projects is strongly recommended
- Demonstrated skills and experience in training, capacity building, and mentoring activities for national staff and local NGO or CBOs
- Ability to travel upon request
- Fluency in spoken and written English, Swahili preferred.
