PRINCIPAL

Migori School of Guidance and Counselling is an interdenominational/ interreligious Institution of higher learning, situated in Migori town on the Migori-Isebania Road. It was envisioned, proposed and facilitated by Rev. Dr. Madara Dondo. The campus maintains an Ecumenical Religious Christian atmosphere. Migori School of Guidance and Counselling admitted the first students in December 2002 and is registered with the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology

Position Summary
Reporting to the Management Board, the Principal will be responsible for providing instructional, operational, and administrative leadership at institution and has lead responsibility for student achievement and lecturer support with a dominant focus on instructional leadership and will be accountable for the continuous improvement of the institution and its staff, and increased student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction and support to the implementation, evaluation and refinement of the Institution’s instructional, programmatic and operational plans
  • Supervise and evaluate Lecturers and staff to ensure quality instruction, student achievement.
  • Take part in lecturing in the institutions programmes.
  • Prepare required reports and ensure the maintenance of complete and accurate records for the institution; oversee compliance in examining, school database, etc.
  • Develop and maintain procedures that provide for the safety and security of staff and students
  • Recruit, select and hire outstanding institution’s staff (Lecturers – support staff)
  • Prepare an annual budget forecast, manage approved institution’s budget * Ensure revenue, enrollment and expense targets are met (profit and loss)
  • Oversee compliance to state, local and contractual requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate Education – related discipline; Masters in Guidance and Counseling will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years Lecturing experience and at least two years as an instructional leader
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Strong academic leadership skills and deep commitment to improving the quality of education
  • Deep knowledge of instructional and planning methodologies rooted in analysis of data.
  • Aged above 30 years
