*ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL OFFICER – ADHERENCE NURSE *

Work as a member of the regional mentorship team whose duties will be carried out under the guidance of the Senior Technical Officer (Care and Treatment). S/he will mentor health service providers on the critical integrated nursing and counseling services for HIV infected patients at the CCCs, including documentation and review of records. In addition S/he will provide policy updates and facilitate effective referral systems to increase access to services. The Associate Technical Officer – Adherence Nurse will support facilities to come up with strategies for defaulter tracing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide updates of the revised ART policies and SOPs to service providers.
- Provide support to facilities on clinic organization, patient flow and triage.
- Vital signs, anthropometric measurements.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to service providers on ART adherence preparation of new patients and on-going adherence support.
- Facilitate treatment literacy sessions.
- Provide mentorship of ART adherence (using multiple approaches).
- Provide mentorship and coaching to service providers on nutrition assessment, counseling and management including Infant and young child feeding counseling in the context of HIV.
- Provide support supervision on review of referral decisions.
- Provide mentorship on integration of services especially FP, screening of cervical cancer, STIs and NCDs.
- Support facilities to facilitation of clinic based, mini group counseling sessions for PLHIV; facilitation of topics related to HIV&AIDS during support group meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Nursing and be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya. Additional training in Counseling in the context of HIV (PMTCT, ART or TB) is required. Knowledge of the public health sector and at least 3 years’ working experience working in a CCC and/or ANC/PMTCT setting will be an advantage.
