ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, HEALTH COMMUNICATION

Location: APHIAplus Project, Nakuru

The Associate Director, Health Communication will report to the Project Director, APHIAplus Nuru Ya Bonde Project. S/he will provide strategic leadership to the health commination portfolio to implement high quality health communication strategies. Provide leadership in provision of technical assistance to various levels of program implementation while monitoring to ensure quality delivery of the health communication portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership to the health communication portfolio in APHIAplus Nuru Ya Bonde project.
• Provide technical leadership to health communication team to implement quality interventions informed by evidence.
• Mentor the health communication team to support implementing partners and other agencies in design and project implementation of a quality HIV/AIDS/RH/TB/Malaria prevention program.
• Provide leadership in provision of technical assistance to DHMTs in developing health communication strategies, messages and materials.
• Prepare annual work plans, budgets and quarterly reports for the health communication activities.
• Monitor the achievements of set targets for health communication.
• Liaise with critical stakeholders in health communication including the relevant government departments.
• Maintain smooth regular information flow with the government and FHI 360 technical staff.
• Ensure that project implementation adheres to the appropriate global strategy and remains technically sound.
• Provide leadership in the development of lessons learnt from programs and apply these lessons to modify existing program and improve the design of new programs.
• Conduct analysis of program implementation to identify areas of weakness or opportunity vis a vis the appropriate technical strategy and guidelines.
• Analyze data sets and technical assessment findings for decision making.
• Represents the project at professional meetings and conferences.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
MBA/MA/MS/MPH in a social science or public health or related advanced degree with 7-9 years relevant experience or BA/BS in relevant field with 9-11 years relevant experience in Health Communication including HIV/AIDS prevention. Must have experience in managing budgets, project planning, monitoring and evaluation and excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in working with multi-cultural communities is an added advantage, excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite. Working knowledge of Kiswahili is crucial.
